Bostro steak at the forge derby with large chips and salad

So Yeah, We build our own tables here at the forge

When we opened the Forge a few years back we knew we wanted things to look different from the norm. You know what I mean, that old steakhouse look where every table and every chair looks the exact same. Don’t get me wrong, if that’s your thing then more power to you but we didn’t want that “IKEA” style uniformity in our restaurant.

However, it turns out that buying hand made tables is a rather pricey endevour. So, after some humming and hawing and a wee bit of research we decided to just go for it and build our own. We used repurposed wood that we sanded down, assemled and varshished repeatedly. We won’t go into the details here but good grief it was hard work. It was worth it though.

However, once we built the tables we knew something was missing, that final piece of the puzzle that would make this furniture our own, unique to us. To put it simply, we seared our name and (then) logo into each table top. That’s right, we literally burned our name into the wood.

The end result is something we are of course very proud of and ultimately makes every meal we serve that little bit more special for each and every one of our customers.
